Hi! I'm a Kansas City-based software architect and serial entrepreneur with over two decades of experience building impactful products and helping businesses cut through the hype and deliver technology that works.
I love ideating and building. Over my career, I've helped launch numerous projects (with a handful of acquisitions), taught others how to thrive in tech careers, and co-authored Code School: Overcome Imposter Syndrome. Kick-Start Your Tech Career. to help bootcamp grads break into tech. Beyond that, I started a beard oil company called Beard Shine to further understand what my e-commerce customers go through. With a background in counseling and over two decades of experience in software engineering, I bring both technical depth and people skills to everything I build.
In the past, I led technology at New Story, a housing non-profit best known for building the world's first 3D-printed community. Apple even filmed a documentary about us. Before that, I helped launch and taught at The Iron Yard, the (at the time) largest code school in the world.
I also spend a great deal of time investing and consulting with startups at various stages through my company, Sunset Labs.
